THRIVING V. SURVIVING

Assurance of Salvation adds a tremendous amount of Love and Grace into our lives, but our lives naturally get busy and also filled with a number of lesser yet important things. When we start to lean more towards the hustle and bustle of the world, our souls surely start aching.

I was recently reminded of this when the hubby and I took a plant class at our local nursery. We learned the basics that we already knew about light, soil, and water, but they were presented in a new light and explained clearly with enthusiasm.

The instructor told us that plants can just survive, or they can thrive. There was a distinction between the two states. That powerful statement has never left the forefront of my thoughts ever since.

For her, a seemingly small move of placing a plant two feet closer to a window caused it to flourish when it was previously barely hanging on to life. She even encouraged us to move our houseplants around if necessary with seasonal changes. We were to continually assess the basic needs of our plants.

We all (myself included) naturally have a tendency to steer away from God when we inevitably feel overwhelmed, anxiety, shame, and fear. There are often times that we lean away from God’s goodness during these seasons when in reality, He is our spiritual sweet spot for peace.

To thrive, we must be consistently mindful of which way our hearts are facing. Placing our attention towards the true needs of our souls, His Love and Grace, is how we can live abundantly with confidence and hope. ❤️

John 10:10

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
