I was speaking with a friend about some deeply painful times she was going through, and she mentioned this additional frustration. Many people, with the greatest of intentions, kept telling her to have faith that God was in control and to trust Him.

This was hard for her. She wasn’t sure how to fully trust because the situation was too big and the pain was extremely real.

Like many of us, she totally understood trusting God in concept and desperately wanted it to be easier for her to do so. I empathized with her predicament and wanted to have the right words for her. To be honest, for myself as well.

I silently prayed during this conversation on how to answer. Then I found myself remembering the Bible verses below. I promptly responded.

“You take it day by day. Hour by hour if needed. You pray for trust, faith, and guidance on a consistent, continual basis.”

Unfortunately, there are times in our lives when we are dealing with something so troubling that trying to figure things out for the next week or even the next day seems impossible and unsettling. In those times, it is the present day and moment that God tells us to focus on. He has always been there for us in the past, and will be there for us in the future.

The answer = He is with us in the present, when we need Him now. Call on Him and you can trust He hears you and is all for you. There is an indescribable peace that comes from going through your toughest moments with Him by your side.

Matthew 6:34

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

1 Chronicles 16:11

Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.
